USB-C Charging: How to Make the Most of Every Solution on the Crossbuds CR46

The Type-C connector has become the universal physical standard for charging smartphones, tablets and accessories. A station like the Crossbuds CR46 goes further by combining several complementary charging solutions — the key is knowing which one to use depending on your device to get the best result.

Three ways to charge, for three different needs

The CR46 offers a magnetic charging zone (Qi and MagSafe compatible), a built-in Lightning cable, and a built-in Type-C cable. This combination covers almost every smartphone and accessory on the market — provided you choose the right solution for the right device.

Magnetic charging: the simplest solution

For any Qi or MagSafe compatible smartphone, simply place the device on the magnetic zone. It's the quickest solution for everyday use, with no plugging in, and automatic alignment.

The Type-C cable: ideal for standard charging

The built-in Type-C cable delivers power over fixed voltage steps (5V, 9V, 10V, 12V), an approach shared by the vast majority of USB-C charging accessories on the market. This solution effectively covers most smartphones and works particularly well for devices using the classic Power Delivery standard.

For smartphones whose fast charging relies specifically on the PPS protocol with variable voltage — the case for certain Samsung Galaxy S and Ultra models — the best solution remains the CR46's magnetic charging if the device supports it, or a third-party cable/charger certified for PPS to take advantage of the phone's native fast charging speed.

The Lightning cable: the dedicated Apple solution

For any device with a Lightning connector, the built-in cable offers direct, reliable charging, designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem.

Making the right choice for your phone

The key is identifying the solution best suited to your device: magnetic charging for everyday simplicity, the built-in Type-C cable for standard wired charging, or a dedicated PPS cable to unlock a recent smartphone's proprietary fast charging. This flexibility makes the CR46 a station capable of adapting to very different needs, rather than a single fixed solution.

CR48 and CR52: the same versatility, in a customizable version

The CR48 and CR52 share the same technical base — 10,000 mAh, magnetic charging up to 15W, fast wired charging up to 20W — but with a free Type-C port rather than a built-in cable. The advantage: the freedom to plug in exactly the cable suited to your phone, including a PPS-certified cable for models that depend on it.

The CR48 adds a rotating stand so you can use your phone while it charges, while the CR52 features a digital screen to track the charge level in real time.
